Alter Trade offers other agricultural products
grown by small farmers from various
provinces of the Philippines. These are mangoes, frozen pineapple,
corn and rice.
Alter Trade's mangoes are grown in Negros Oriental,
and marketed in Negros Occidental, Manila and Cebu. Consumers
in Tokyo, Japan and Hongkong prefer its distinct sweetness.
Alter
Trade's frozen pineapples come from Cavite, grown by the same
growers who produce Alter Trade Balangon. Freshly picked, they
are cut and frozen under strict hygienic standards of the Food
Development Center, a government institution that provides technical
services, technologies and training for the export of food products
in accordance with international requirements. Alter Trade's pineapples
have been enjoyed in Japan.
Alter Trade's organic corn is the product of
the Ifugao's of Northern Luzon. They have enjoyed good market
in Japan where they are used as organic feeds to livestock.
Rice has been the major product of Alter Trade's
growers in Negros Occidental, majority of whom are land reform
beneficiaries. Various varieties are grown in 20.7 has. already
certified organic, and sold at prevailing market prices in different
towns of the province.
Alter Trade Corporation has been at the forefront
of marketing these products to improve the quality of lives of
small farmers. Those who have patronized its products, too, have
done their share.
